Description Social Security Focus is intended to give the student an understanding of the issues facing the Social Security system at the start of the 21st Century. The course examines the history and idea behind social security. The student will be familiar with the origins and evolution of the program. The impact of Social Security on saving is examined. The suggestion of raising Social Security eligibility age is presented as well as personal retirement accounts financed by tax credits. The text examines issues that could affect reform proposals from the policymaker’s standpoint.
