The California Insurance Code requires that California resident and non-resident life licensees who sell annuity products  must first complete eight (8) hours of annuity training that is approved by the California Department of Insurance .  This is the initial 8-hour annuity training course.  The licensee receives the initial eight hours of continuing education credit required to sell annuities. Students will examine information about annuities and look at acceptable sales practices and those that are prohibited. Annuity suitability is addressed as is the Best Interest Standard. The course reviews sales practices as they apply to California seniors and examines contract requirements applicable to fixed, variable, and indexed annuities.
